I join VIDA Guatemala USA's volunteer board after working for over three years on the US-side staff of a nursing and medical access NGO in and around Antigua. During this time I met Daniel and Oliver and became familiar with their and the community’s incredible work. I previously worked for two years as an immigration paralegal with a legal services access organization in Chicago, primarily serving imprisoned Central American children as they navigated the US legal system on their own. These days, I’m self-employed as a Spanish-English interpreter at permanent residency and citizenship interviews and run a small coffee roastery mutual aid cooperative with my former café barista colleagues.
