Rebecca Robinson.

It is with great excitement that I join VIDA’s US-side volunteer board. I have a Master's degree in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and have been teaching in public education for close to 20 years in an array of diverse communities in both California and Louisiana. I'm drawn to schools that have a deep impact on vulnerable populations, and passionately believe that all children deserve equitable opportunities to learn and grow. I fell in love with Guatemala in the summer of 2000, when a group of us teaching fellows went to Spanish language school in Xela, and spent our afternoons volunteering in various capacities that supported young children. I became extremely close with my host family, returning to visit them every few years, and connecting with others who are also committed to the people of Guatemala. I'm grateful to have been introduced to VIDA, an incredible organization with proven results in the larger community. I look forward to continuing this relationship, and being more involved.
